Wall Parts by Aleksey Partola, OS-89 publishing house
Graffiti is a traditionally street genre, but what will happen if graffiti works appear in art galleries?
The book’s objective is to share how a graffiti artist communicates with galleries and museum institutions integrating street skills in the strict academic space. As Aleskey Patola states, only the best of the best have been selected for the project – 25 artists from all over Russia. Nikita K. Sryabin, famous Moscow artist, is the co-promoter of the project.
It is Aleksey’s second project regarding graffiti culture. Previously Partola had published Ghosts – the first manifesto on Russian trainbombers, it is a guide book the balances on the edge between underground art, vandalism and railway romanticism. The new project Wall Parts, as well as Ghosts, does what nobody in the Russian graffiti has done before: presentation of ideas which create street art of our time.
The book includes the interviews with 25 modern graffiti artists and history of how they created 25 uniformat canvases.
